Convicted Salem Official: No Proof He Raped Woman

Former Salem Planning Board member Jeffrey Gray appeared in court this week to ask for a new trial, saying police botched the investigation, according to The Eagle-Tribune.

Gray, 51, is serving seven to 14 years in prison for the felonious sexual assault of a pregnant New York woman he allegedly lured to his home. He has claimed he didn't receive a fair trial because of a misfiled forensic lab report, which he claims also shows his victim was lying on the stand.

The former Windham civil engineer was in Rockingham County Superior Court on Thursday. Serving as his own lawyer, he said there is no proof that he raped the victim. He claims the sex was consensual.
