2-Alarm Senter Street Garage Fire Displaces 8

No one was hurt, although the single-story home isn't currently livable and the garage was destroyed.

It took roughly an hour for firefighters from four different communities to extinguish a two-alarm Senter Street fire that "destroyed" a garage and heavily damaged a home Tuesday night, according to WMUR.

WMUR has reported that eight individuals — none of whom were hurt — were displaced because there was "significant damage to the house" at 21 Senter St. The fire is still under investigation, according to WMUR.

The fire broke out around 8:20 p.m., according to emergency radio broadcasts. The garage was fully involved on arrival, and emergency radio broadcasts reported that the fire had extended to the single-story, wood-framed dwelling connected to the garage.

The fire was heavy at times, and firefighters were forced to move to a defensive attack for a time, according to emergency radio broadcasts. The fire was reportedly knocked down around 9:30 p.m., about an hour after it started.

Patch blogger Bob Gibbs was at the scene of the fire, and he has posted numerous photos at the scene as well as information from neighbors with whom he spoke.

Gibbs said parts of Lawrence Road and other nearby streets were closed during firefighting activities. Derry, Windham, and Methuen, Mass., fire departments responded to the fire, while Hampstead and Pelham provided station coverage, according to Gibbs.
