Walk-Off Wonders: Late Blast Lifts Salem to District Title

11- and 12-year-old Little League all-stars bounce back from tough loss, trump defending champs on four dingers.

Salem's first loss on the New Hampshire District 1 Little League all-star tournament proved a tough one to swallow.

Entering Saturday night's contest with a chance to clinch the tourney title against defending state champ Bedford, Salem instead suffered a 19-1 setback to set up a winner-take-all Monday night matchup.

And down 5-0 early in Monday's home contest, it appeared Salem was about to be bullied once again by Bedford.

Instead, Mike Borelli hit a two-run second-inning home run to draw Salem within three, and Nick Robertson smashed a grand slam in the third to push the hosts ahead by one and Nick Delaney added to the advantage with a solo shot, according to the Union Leader.

Bedford evened the score in the fifth, but John Olivio's two-run walkoff shot in the bottom of the sixth secured the 9-7 victory and district crown for Salem.
