Salem Kmart, Plaza Reopened After Bomb Threat Evacuation

The plaza was closed as police and bomb-sniffing dogs investigated the store and area.

UPDATE (4:19 p.m.): Kmart and the surrounding plaza have been cleared and reopened following Monday's bomb threat evacuation.  

The department issued a thank you to New Hampshire State Police for their bomb-detecting dog units' "quick response," although its not immediately clear if anything was found during the investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY (2:56 p.m.): Salem police asked the public to avoid the area around Kmart Monday afternoon after a bomb threat forced the store and surrounding plaza to be evacuated and closed.

Salem police said New Hampshire State Police bombing-sniffing dogs were called in to investigate the threat, which is similar to threats made Monday at two Massachusetts Kmart locations.
