Popular Pizza Shop on South Broadway Closes Down

The business recently decided not to renew its lease.

Many Salem residents were recently surprised to drive past 368 South Broadway only to find that a Salem favorite for pizza and other Italian dining had shut its doors.

Polcari's, an Italian-American restaurant designed as an offshoot of Boston's Regina Pizzeria, has opted not to renew its lease.

News of the closure first came to Salem Patch after several readers posted comments on Facebook asking about the business.

A call to Polcari's received no response, but a voicemail has been set up to tell residents about the closure and possibility of a re-opening in the future. It reads as follows:

Thank you for calling Polcaris – Salem, N.H.

Our lease has been terminated at this location and we are closed.

We are hoping to return to a new location in the Salem area in the near future.

You may use your Polcari's/Regina gift card at any one of our 21 New England locations.

Polcari's is named after the Polcari Family, which established the original Regina Pizzeria in the North End.

Two other Polcari's locations remain in Massachusetts, located on Route 1 in Saugus and Montvale Avenue in Woburn.
