$17M School Renovations Begin Next Week

The project includes work at the Fisk and Soule elementary schools.

The second phase of the Salem School District's elementary school renovation project is expected to get underway next week, according to the Union Leader.

The $17 million elementary school renovation project includes renovations to the Fisk and Soule elementary schools and smaller improvements to the Haigh School.

School Superintendent Michael Delahanty has said previously that the additions will include kindergarten classrooms, gymnasiums, reconfigured main office areas and small group instruction space, he said. Renovations will address all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, including energy efficiencies and a changeover to natural gas heating systems. Safety upgrades will include reconfigured main entrances, fire protection systems, electronic door locks with security cameras and new technology infrastructure.
