Editor's note: Salem NH Patch recently received an email question asking us if we know anything about the cicadas and whether or not New Hampshire is likely to be impacted by their once-in-every-17-year emergence.  We reached out to a story from our Southampton, NY Patch site, and for those of you who are worried about the plague-like event – which enthusiasts have dubbed the “Cicadapocalyps" – fear not. The answer is "no." These bugs are not likely to reach the Granite State. Within the next few weeks, hordes of insects will awaken from a 17-year slumber, crawl out of the earth, shed their skins, and set most of the East Coast abuzz. Who Will Serve on Salem's Casino Advisory Committee?

We have received a few emails and calls related to Salem's Casino Advisory Committee. On Monday night, Salem Selectmen rounded out membership on the committee, which included the appointing of six citizen applicants from a pool of over 20 hopefuls. Salem Selectmen chose the following residents to round out the nine-member group, which will meet for the first time tonight. Richard Wilson Carlo Luiso Phil Commarata Howie Glynn Gary Boutin Harold Moore Rounding out the committee will be state Sen. Chuck Morse (R-Salem), Selectman Stephen Campbell and School Board member Michael Carney, Jr.

For this week, we're going to discuss a question that you may be wondering if you drive on North Broadway on a regular basis. One of our Facebook followers sent us a message recently asking the following question: "Do you know what is going to be built on the corner of route 28 an Taylor St?" The answer? A used car lot on that corner????? Taylor street is a dangerous intersection. Hey lets take the car out for a test drive !!!! right onto Route 28. KABANG!!! Bad choice for vehicular activity like a car lot. They would have been better off with a site on south broadway.
