Kirby Awarded Fire Association Scholarship
The $2,000 scholarship was awarded Sunday.
Following Sunday's Salem Firefighters Memorial ceremony, Salem Assistant Fire Chief Paul Parisi announced the annual Salem Firefighters Relief Association Scholarship recipient this year: 2012 Salem High graduate and Salem Fire Explorer Evan Kirby. The $2,000 scholarship is awarded to a student studying fire or EMS studies at an accredited college. Parisi said Kirby was awarded the scholarship "based on need, his dedication to the FD, and his essay submission." Parisi said the scholarship is possible based on the association's participation in charity poker at Rockingham Park. Kirby is attending Southern Maine Community College.
