UPDATE: One Flown to Boston After Crash

One patient reportedly flown to Boston.

UPDATE, WEDNESDAY: A family member contacted Patch and identified the man transported to Boston Medical Center as Robert McCullough. According to the family member, McCullough has a concussion but the family is "very hopeful, that he will be fine." UPDATE, 7:30 p.m.: Salem Fire Capt. Stephane Cattin said the adult male driver of a Dodge Caravan involved in the crash was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., where he was then flown to Boston Medical Center for treatment. Cattin said they were initially called out to the crash at 5:30 p.m. The female driver of the other vehicle, a late-model SUV, was not injured in the crash, according to Cattin.  Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles at the time of the crash, …

Salem Patch reader and photo contributor Bob Gibbs sent us these photos from an early-morning accident that took place on Interstate 93 early Saturday morning. Gibbs said the accident took place at about 6:45 a.m. under the Cross Street bridge in the northbound lane. These pictures were taken from the hill above the Public Works department. According to scanner reports, Gibbs said the driver was from Haverhill, Mass., and was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. Send us your pictures at jake.odonnell@patch.com.

Drivers Identified in Tuesday Crash

Police have no update on the condition of Michelle Rheaume, 29, of Salem.

Salem Police have officially identified the drivers involved in Tuesday's serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 111 and Zachary's Crossing in North Salem Tuesday. Police said Michelle Rheaume, 29, of Salem was the driver of the Volvo S40 who suffered "life-threatening" injuries when a Honda Accord, driven by Vincent Aleci, 61, of Haverhill, Mass., crashed into her. Police have already said Aleci is at fault in the crash and charges against him are expected to be forthcoming. Rheaume was transported by helicopter to a Boston hospital and police had no update on her condition Wednesday morning. Aleci suffered scratches on his hands but was not further injured. He was taken for a blood test following the crash but police do…

One Transported Following Lake Street Crash

Female suffers non-life threatening injuries.

Salem Assistant Fire Chief Paul Parisi said a female had to be extricated from a vehicle following a single-car motor vehicle crash on Lake Street Friday at approximately noon. The female driver and sole occupant suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Lawrence, Mass., General Hospital. Parisi said Salem Fire and Police units responded to the scene of the crash, which took place in the vicinity of Lake Street Garden Center. "The vehicle had hit a tree and was up on its side," Parisi said. The female was pinned inside the car and emergency personnel on scene worked to extract her, after which she was transported to the hospital. Parisi was unsure of what may have caused the crash. Utility Pole Accident Closes Main Street

Evening accident also involved oil spill from transformer.

A commercial truck took down a utility pole on Main Street Monday evening, causing the road to be closed for several hours while crews cleaned up the scene. Police said they responded along with Salem Fire to an accident in the area of 214 Main Street Monday at 5:42 p.m. According to police, a large commercial truck got hung up on wires and took down a utility pole. While no one was injured in the crash, wires were strewn across the road resulting in a closure of Main Street throughout the much of the evening while crews from National Grid and Fairpoint worked to repair the damage. Police said around 40 gallons of oil was spilled onto a ground from a transformer knocked over during the accident. Clean Harbors was on scene to assist in the …
