DURHAM, NH – University of New Hampshire commencement speaker Lt. Gen. Mary A. Legere '82 challenged graduates to dare to live their lives and their dreams during the university’s 143rd commencement held Saturday, May 18, 2013, when more than 2,500 undergraduate and 522 graduate students, including 68 military veterans, ranging in age from 19 to 67 years old and representing 29 states and 23 foreign countries received degrees. “They say in life that we make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give,” Legere said. “I urge you to leave this university with that in mind. The University of New Hampshire will hold its commencement ceremonies beginning at 10 a.m. today at Memorial Field. The 2013 Commencement Speaker will be Lt. Gen. Mary A. Legere '82. A combat veteran, Legere's military career spans three decades and includes tours in Germany, Korea, and Iraq, where she completed 18 months as the chief of staff for intelligence. Forty-four fallen New Hampshire police officers were honored in Concord Friday morning.
The Woodbury Middle School Choir, Friday morning, sang as part of the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Concord. Gov. Maggie Hassan served as keynote speaker at the event and an Honorable Roll Call was read by Attorney General Joseph A. Foster recognizing the names of New Hampshire's 44 fallen police officers. In addition to the Woodbury Choir, the New Hampshire Police Association Pipes and Drum Band and Londonderry High School marching band also provided approproate tunes at the event.

Salem residents – the big day has finally arrived for the annual Grand March and Senior Prom, the latter of which is scheduled to take place this year at Andover Country Club in Andover, Mass. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Grand March at the SHS Busport, followed by the 6 p.m. prom. We want to provide you with the opportunity to share your photos with friends and neighbors. Congratulations to all of the 357 graduates who will be getting their diploma this year!
The University of New Hampshire at Manchester will celebrate the achievements of 357 graduates at the college's 28th annual commencement proceedings on Thursday, May 16, 2013 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the historic mill yard. The ceremony recognizes 265 undergraduate and 92 graduate students who have earned their associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree, or an advanced graduate certificate at the University of New Hampshire’s campus in Manchester. University of New Hampshire’s President Mark Huddleston will lead the proceedings. The program will include remarks from student speaker Ashley Potter, a 2013 graduate of the sign language interpretation program, and a keynote address from New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan. Over 50 residents filled rows of folding chairs for a community forum Tuesday.
Parents voiced their frustrations Tuesday during a Salem School Board forum that provided sporadic answers and plenty of speculation on the future of Walter F. Haigh Elementary School. Over 50 residents crowded into rows of folding chairs in the Haigh School multipurpose room, and many of them believed that their school has not received a fair shake when stacked up with the town’s five other elementary schools. Haigh School was part of two warrant articles in March. Voters approved one article, which called for modest improvements to the school alongside major renovations to both the Fisk and Soule Schools.
