Salem Woman Convicted for Prostitution Charged Again in Massachusetts

The Eagle Tribune reported the news on Tuesday.

A Salem woman convicted on prostitution charges in May 2011 has again been arrested for prostitution, according to the Eagle Tribune. According to the paper, Lori Barron, 50, of 20 Riversedge Drive was charged yesterday with running a house of prostitution and videotaping her clients engaging in sexual acts at her Lawrence, Mass. massage parlor called "Day Spa for Gentlemen." Barron was arraigned in Lawrence District Court on six charges including maintaining a house of prostitution, deriving support from prostitution, unlawful wiretapping, extortion and photographing unsuspecting nude persons. Two years ago, Barron was the owner of ETEA Weight Loss Spa on 282 Main St. Court complaints stated she was originally charged with two counts of …

Salem Police Report Fatality in I-93 Accident

The incident took place around 7:30 p.m.

UPDATE (9:00 p.m.): According to a Tweet from Salem Police, a fatality occured earlier tonight in a traffic accident that took place on Interstate 93 southbound. Police did not identify the victim or the cause of the crash in the message, but did say that significant traffic delays were taking place and that they were on the scene along with Salem Fire and New Hampshire State Police. WMUR is reporting that witnesses saw a male driver hit the center guard rail at high speed before his car flipped. Fugitive Wanted for NH Burglaries Arrested

Joshua Fowler was wanted in connection with burglaries in Salem and Hampstead. He's been arrested in the past for burglaries in Derry and Londonderry.

A man wanted in connection with burglaries and thefts in Salem, Hampstead and Lawrence, Mass. was apprehended this week. Joshua Fowler, 34, of Hampstead, surrendered Friday morning at the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department after he was listed as this week's U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force "Fugitive of the Week." Fowler was wanted on several outstanding arrest warrants throughout Southern New Hampshire for burglaries and thefts. Jeffrey White, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service, said Fowler was wanted on warrants from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department, Salem Police, Hampstead Police, and Lawrence, Mass. Salem Ford Technician Caught Masturbating in Customer's Car

He was charged with two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure.

Police arrested a Salem Ford technician Thursday who was masturbating in a customer's vehicle while on break. Mark A. Rice, 44, of Hooksett, N.H. was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure. Salem Police were dispatched to the Marshall's parking lot at 12:06 p.m. for a report of a male subject exposing himself in the vehicle. Rice was in a black Hyundai Sonata bearing a Massachusetts registration, parked approximately six cars away from the front of the business. Salem Officer Robert Holland responded to the parking lot, where he subsequently found the vehicle. Holland exited his cruiser, walking one car length away from the car. Bear Sightings Reported Near Soule School, Route 28

Salem Animal Control is urging residents not to worry, and is offering tips on how to keep bears away.

Multiple bear sightings have been reported in the areas of Soule Elementary School and Route 28, according to Salem Animal Control Officer Corie Bliss. According to Bliss, multiple calls have come in over the past few days reporting the presence of two adult black bears. She said that the bears are not aggressive by nature. "I think people are getting nervous that they're going to get attacked. That's certainly not their normal behavior." If approached, Bliss said that these bears will typically just run. But residents are still urged to take specific precautions to avoid attracting bears to their neighborhood. Bliss said that people need to take in bird feeders and make sure that any trash or waste is picked up and put in either a locked …

54 Members of Salem Fire Shave Heads to Support Colleague

The Eagle Tribune reported today that 54 members of the Salem Fire Department have stepped up to shave their heads in support of Capt. Steve McKenna, who is battling a form of cancer that leaves him with only months to live. The Stage 3 cancer was diagnosed in McKenna's digestive tract in 2009. Shaving their heads is just one way that firefighters in Salem are working to help out. Last week we reported on two fundraisers taking place for McKenna, one ongoing and one at the end of this month. Black T-shirts are currently being sold for $20, each with the words "Support Our Family." Salem firefighters are also hosting an event at the Radisson/Center of New Hampshire in Manchester on June 29. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. and …

Neighbors Wake Elderly Couple After Fire Breaks Out in Their Attic

Salem Fire responded to the incident early Tuesday morning.

UPDATE (JUNE 8): The fire that left two elderly Salem residents injured last week was reportedly due to an electrical problem in the home, according to the Eagle Tribune. Herbert Herron, 84, and Barbara Herron, 74, were both rescued from their Ackerman Street home by a pair of individuals – Officer Connor Nolan and neighbor Nick Aslup.
