Cop Indicted for Assaulting Teen in Salem

Carlos Gonzalez allegedly committed the crime in the early 1990's.

A Lawrence police officer has been indicted for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Salem in 1992 and 1993, according to the Eagle Tribune. Carlos Gonzalez, 48, is currently being held in a Florida jail on a $165,000 bond on another charge that he sexually assaulted a girl while vacationing there last summer. Salem Police reopened the case after Gonzalez was charged in Florida in February.

Tuscan Kitchen Expanding to Massachusetts

The Italian restaurant's second location would also have a market component.

Less than three years after opening Tuscan Kitchen on Main Street in Salem, owner Joe Faro is working on an expansion into Massachusetts. If approved, Faro's second location will take over the first floor of an existing plaza park in Burlington, Mass. To house the Tuscan experience, a 4,800 square foot addition to the New England Executive Park building is included in the plan. According to Burlington Planning Director Kristin Kassner, the building is directly adjacent to the Burlington Mall. "The restaurant itself is actually probably similar in size (to Salem)," she said. We had a bar tender the other night that was complaining about how slow it was to us and how he wasn't making enough in tips to cover a recent trip with his girlfriend. Severe Weather Possible Monday Night

The National Weather Service is warning area residents that thunderstorms could be coming.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Rockingham County through 9 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. "A weak cold front will provide a focus for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and evening," according to the weather service. "While the activity that develops will be hit and miss a few of the thunderstorms will probably become strong to severe. The primary threats with this activity will be large hail and damaging straight line wind gusts. Dangerous cloud to ground lightning is also expected with any of these thunderstorms. In addition, brief heavy rainfall may result in some localized poor drainage street flooding." There will be a chance of showers in Salem on Tuesday, with a high …

Tractor Trailer Accident with Multiple Vehicles Reported on I-93

The incident took place in the last half hour.

A multi-car accident involving a tractor trailer has reportedly taken place on Interstate 93, according to a news alert. The crash, which reportedly happened in the last hour on the southbound side of the highway, took place near the Windham/Salem border prior to Exit 2. NH legislators try to resolve differences in voter ID, medical marijuana, and state budget bills over the next four days.

New Hampshire House and Senate members are hustling over the next four days to resolve their differences in more than 42 bills, including the $10.7 billion state budget, proposed medical marijuana legalization, and possible changes in the voter identification law. June 20, at 4 p.m., is the deadline to sign committee of conference reports. The blueprint: House, Senate aim to wrap up all unfinished business by June 26-27. This week: Gov. Maggie Hassan and the Executive Council meet on Wednesday, 10 a.m., in council chambers at the Statehouse.
