The Government Shutdown Won't Wreck Your Weekend

Here are just a few cool things to do this weekend in the Granite State.

While some parts of the White Mountains are closed due to the political stalemate in Washington, D.C., click on the links below for details on some other fun things to do this weekend:

  • Pink time at the malls. Both the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester and the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua are holding breast cancer awareness events at their locations on Saturday.
  • Customer Appreciation Day. All around New Hampshire, Sal’s Pizza locations are saying, “Thanks!” to their customers in the following cities and towns: Concord, Nashua, Salem, Merrimack, and Milford.
  • Craft fair open house. Head on over to 117 Old Derry Road in Londonderry for the 12th annual craft open house at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The event features all kinds of items for sale, free admission, and door prizes.
  • Fire safety events. October is National Fire Prevention Month and the Salem Fire Department is holding an open house at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The department headquarters is located at 152 Main St.
  • Crafts in Windham. The Windham Knights of Columbus is hosting a craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Matthews Parish. The event is free and features food, raffles, and all kinds of crafts.
  • Walking meditation. Enjoy a peaceful walk and meditation event at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at Carter Hill Orchards in Concord. After the walk, pick up some fresh local apples, cider, and other products in the shop.
  • Oktoberfest in Merrimack. The Anheuser-Busch Brewery is holding a fundraiser for Symphony New Hampshire at 6 p.m. on Saturday featuring music, beer, and fun. Tickets are $35.
  • Couples painting together. The Canvas Roadshow Studio in Bedford is offering a fun night for two painting project at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The instructor will offer step-by-step construction.
