There Has to Be a Better Way to Insure Everyone

The basic premise that a lot of people need and deserve health insurance sounded good to me.  But this multi-thousand page document that Nancy Pelosi said had to be voted in "so that we can see what's in it" has continued to be revealed, page by page, as incredibly unfair, unwieldy, and expensive. Not only does it not cover all the uninsured working poor, it exempts Congress, the President, and all the corporations rich enough to pay lobbyists.  If it really offered good health insurance, they should sign up, right? And all those claims that it will make health care cheaper are falling under scrutiny.  Yes, we need health care reform, like allowing us to shop across the country instead of just in our own state.  But nothing so simple and basic was included.  The very same people who didn't bat an eyelash when Obama started choosing which facets of the bill to delay, like employers' mandate, are now claiming that it's against the law for opponents to delay other facets, like individual mandates.  Yes, what sounded good at first mention now looks like an ugly array of political payoffs, and the American taxpayer is going to do all the paying.
