Salem Voting Goes Smoothly Despite Polling Place Change

"We've had very few complaints," Town Moderator Chris Goodnow said.

Leading up to Tuesday's election, town officials had expressed some concern that a switch in polling places this year might confuse some residents.

But Town Moderator Chris Goodnow said "things are going fine," and there have been no real problems townwide. Due to construction at the elementary schools, voters who historically have voted at the Fisk and Soule schools voted at Rockingham Park on Tuesday instead.

"We've had very few complaints," Goodnow said around 2 p.m. "It's been very smooth, very seamless."

He said there were a few people who were confused and thought the entire town was voting at Rockingham Park. But other than that there have been no major issues.

Goodnow said turnout in the morning was a bit slower than in the last town election but there could be a surge once people get out of work.
