Proposed Salem Budget Calls for 2% Tax Hike

The spending plan does not include any layoffs.

Town Manager Keith Hickey's proposed budget for 2014 calls for a 2.14 percent tax hike, according to The Eagle-Tribune.

The proposed $39.2 million budget, up from $36.8 million in 2013, would not require any layoffs of town employees, Hickey said. The budget includes 11 warrant articles, including one asking residents to approve $1.6 million for bridge and culvert repairs and another asking them to approve spending $1.9 million for new vehicles for the Salem Fire Department.
