Consultant Hired to Provide Gaming Regulation Oversight

WhiteSand Gaming of Nevada and New Jersey stood out among the nine submitted to the N.H. Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority.

Release submitted by the New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority

The New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority announced today that it has chosen WhiteSand Gaming of Nevada and New Jersey to provide the Authority with expert, gaming regulation services.

The overarching goal of the Authority’s work with WhiteSand over these next three months will be to develop by December 15, 2013, a report and specific legislative recommendations for consideration in the 2014 legislative session that will satisfy the Authority’s statutory mission to “insure integrity and public confidence in gaming regulation” (see RSA 284-A).

Within that framework, WhiteSand will help the Authority fulfill its statutory responsibility to “evaluate whether the current regulations and regulatory bodies for legal gaming in the state are adequate to operate in a manner that protects the public interest and allows the regulation to be conducted in an effective manner” (see RSA 284-A).

And WhiteSand will also help the Authority with its statutory charge to “review legislative proposals and recommend comprehensive statutory and regulatory provisions to enable and oversee casino gaming” (see RSA 284-A).

The Authority received nine proposals and rated WhiteSand’s the best.

“Being a part of state government, it is especially important to follow a process that is committed to integrity, quality, and transparency,” said the Authority’s Chair, Representative Richard Ames.  “We were very pleased with the expertise and knowledge of the consultants who submitted responses to our Request for Proposal.”

The Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority also announced that it is indefinitely postponing action on its original plan to hire a local attorney consultant in addition to the gaming consultant, having determined that such additional services are not needed at this time.
