Salem Police Travel to RI as Part of #TylersTroops

More than 200 police and fire vehicles are making the trip to celebrate the birthday of a 7-year-old boy who is battling leukemia.

Two members of the Salem Police Department joined a convoy of police and firefighters from across New England delivering birthday wishes to a 7-year-old Rhode Island boy who is battling leukemia.

"Tyler's Troops" assembled at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on Thursday morning and then traveled to Tyler Seddon's home in Pascoag, RI. More than 200 police cruisers and fire engines were reportedly part of the group.

Salem Police Officers Mike Verrocchi and Paul Benoit joined the caravan, and the Salem Police Department posted a photo of them on Twitter. Salem Police also posted a message on Twitter, saying "Happy Birthday 7th birthday Tyler from SPD... Get well soon!!!"

According to Fox Boston, Tyler has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments while doctors attempt to find him a bone marrow donor. Tyler's mom started a Facebook campaign to collect cards from police and firefighters, but the birthday surprise went viral and ballooned into Thursday's much larger effort.
