Salem Police Receive Over Half a Dozen Fireworks Complaints

The holiday weekend brought on the annual batch of noise reports.

The Independence Day weekend brought the annual batch of fireworks complaints around Salem, with seven scattered reports made to police from around town.

The first local issue with fireworks was reported at 10:32 p.m. on July 4, when a caller at 7 Chestnut St. told police that he asked those setting off fireworks to stop but they continued.

But the majority of the complaints came through to police between Saturday and Sunday, with calls made from Warren Avenue, Meridian Drive, Ridgeview Avenue, Graham Avenue, Mary Ann Avenue and the corner of Shore Drive and Warren Avenue.

In the Meridian Drive report, the caller reported that the fireworks being shot off were hitting were landing on her wooden deck.

In other instances, residents were cooperative. In the Ridgeview Avenue report, police responded to fireworks being shot off at a loud party. After police spoke with the homeowner, the party was shut down and cabs were called to bring people home.

No injuries of any kind were reported in connection with the use of fireworks in town.
