Salem Man Charged with Assaulting Officer

Four people were arrested following a disturbance at a Manchester hotel.

A Salem man was charged with assaulting a police officer following a disturbance at a Manchester hotel on Sunday.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, Manchester Police responded to the Holiday Inn Express at 1298 South Porter St. for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, they met with the clerk at the front desk, who told police that a number of hotel guests had complained that a group of people who had rented a second floor room were causing a disturbance and keeping everyone awake.

Police made contact with four people in the room and told them they had to leave. Krista Pare, 27, of Derry and Justin Lavoie, 29, of Londonderry refused to quiet down and leave the hotel as requested and were subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

A third subject, Kyle Green, 28, of Salem, initially started to walk away but then returned to where Pare was being detained, taking her by the arm and trying to pull her away from an officer. He then engaged in a struggle with another officer, punching at him repeatedly as the officer attempted to restrain him in handcuffs. Green was charged with disorderly conduct, three counts of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

The fourth subject, Michael Johnson, 27, of Boston, Mass. did not interfere with the struggle and eventually left the hotel as requested, according to police. Officers later determined that Johnson had recorded the incident on his cell phone.

When Johnson arrived to post bail for his friends, police asked him to turn over his phone so that any potential evidence of the crime recorded on the phone could be preserved. He refused to produce his phone and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with hindering apprehension and prosecution, and his cell phone was seized as evidence.
