Salem Man Charged Following Heroin Overdoses

Jeffrey Pickett was arrested on heroin and marijuana possession charges.

A man who was at the scene of two recent heroin overdoses in Salem has been arrested on drug charges.

Jeffrey Pickett, 22, of Salem was arrested Thursday on heroin and marijuana possession charges, according to a Salem Police press release. Pickett was reportedly found with two people who overdosed on heroin on Jan. 27. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment.

In addition to the Salem incidents, heroin overdoses have been reported recently in Portsmouth and Salisbury, MA. Police said the overdoses could be linked to a lethal batch of heroin out of Lawrence, MA.
