Salem Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges

The Salem Police Department's Juvenile Detectives worked with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on the month-long investigation.

Salem Police arrested a local man Saturday on child pornography charges related to 12 images and one video detectives say they found on his computer.

Police said Mark Dawaliby, 42, of Salem, was taken into custody June 28 after a month-long investigation into his alleged possession and downloading of child pornography on a computer at his home.

A search warrant was executed in March and forensic examination of the computer and files discovered the child pornography involving girls 7- to 9- years old. He is being charged with five counts of "child porn – visual image," and eight counts of "child sex abuse – image," according to Salem Police.

Dawaliby was taken into custody without incident and he was being held on $50,000 cash bail pending arraignment, police said.
