Police: Citizens Bank at Shaw's Robbed

Police searching for a white male covered in red dye after a dye pack exploded.

Salem Police are searching for a suspect who was involved in a bank robbery at the Citizens Bank branch inside Shaw's at 265 South Broadway on Monday afternoon.

According to police, the suspect passed a note to a teller stating he had a bomb and a hostage and demanded money around 2 p.m.

Police described the suspect as a white male between 25 to 35 years old, wearing a black shirt, glasses and a hat.

While fleeing from the store, police said the dye pack exploded and the suspect dropped the money. Police said he should have red dye on him and possible hand injuries from the explosion of the dye pack.

A K9 unit responded to the scene and tracked the suspect to the parking lot of the nearby 7-Eleven store on Cluff Crossing Road, where the track ended.

Police said an unknown amount of cash was taken and recovered from the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone who has information is asked to call the Salem Police at 893-1911 or the Southern NH Crimeline at 893-6600.
