More Heroin Overdoses Reported in the Area

Police in Salisbury, MA issued a warning Wednesday about a possible bad batch of the drug.

More heroin overdoses were reported in the area on Wednesday, following recent overdoses in Salem and Portsmouth believed to be connected to a tainted batch of the drug.

The Salisbury, MA Police Department–just over the New Hampshire border–issued a warning early Wednesday about a "possibly lethal batch of heroin" being distributed in the area after receiving two medical calls for heroin overdoses. The heroin may have been acquired in Lawrence, MA, police said.

The warning comes a week after three people overdosed on heroin in Salem, and two weeks after three people overdosed in 24 hours in Portsmouth. One of those people, Simone Sclafani, later died. Police have said they believe a bad batch of heroin may have been to blame.
