Main Street Reopened After Pedestrian Struck by Car

One person was transported to the hospital following an accident that temporarily shut down a busy local road.

Main Street was closed Friday afternoon after a pedestrian was injured during an accident in the Salem Depot area.

The Salem Police Department reported that the pedestrian was transported to the hospital following the accident, which occurred around 1:45 p.m. Friday.

Main Street reopened around 2 p.m., although traffic was reportedly heavy in the area. Police asked motorists to "avoid" that section of Main Street "if possible."
