State Police are investigating a serious accident on Interstate 93 involving a tractor-trailer and a Jeep Wrangler that closed multiple northbound lanes for four hours Thursday morning.

The accident near the Exit 6 off-ramp occurred around 12:34 a.m. on April 10. The driver of the Jeep was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and thrown into the jersey barrier separating the northbound and southbound lanes, according to State Police Troop B. Trooper Nathan Johnston and a good Samaritan administered first aid until Manchester Fire and Rescue arrived.

The Jeep driver suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently in serious condition at the Elliot Hospital, police said at 7 a.m. April 10.

The accident remains under investigation, but police say neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
