Man Caught Not Long After Becoming 'Fugitive of the Week'

"Fugitive of the Week" Michael Mahoney was wanted on burglary and witness tampering charges.

A man featured as a "Fugitive of the Week" this week by U.S. Marshals was caught in Portsmouth Wednesday after a tipster alerted authorities.

Michael Mahoney had been wanted on burglary and witness tampering charges out of Hillsborough County. The 50-year-old's last known address was in Hampton.

The tipster recognized Mahoney from his Fugitive of the Week profile and alerted Portsmouth police, authorities said. He was arrested at a local homeless shelter without incident Wednesday night.
