Five Injured in I-93 Tractor Trailer Crash

The crash occurred on Tuesday morning.

At least two people were injured in a 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 in Salem on Tuesday morning.

New Hampshire State Police responded to the crash on I-93 north near Exit 1 at 11:09 a.m. The vehicles involved were a 2000 Chrysler LHS, a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2013 Freightliner tractor trailer unit.

The driver of the Chrysler, James Palleschi, 80, of Hampton, and the driver of the Chevrolet, Janet Seidi, 49, of Wellesley, MA were both taken to the hospital for what state police said were minor injuries. A passenger in the Chrysler, Judith Palleschi, 73, of Hampton and two juveniles, ages 14 and 15, who were passengers in the Chevrolet were also taken to the hospital. The driver of the tractor trailer, Dale Edson, 36, of Swanzey, was not injured in the crash.

Initial investigation showed that the tractor trailer struck the Chevrolet, and then the Chrysler was hit. All three vehicles were traveling northbound on I-93. State police said alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Members of state police troops B and G, New Hampshire Department of Transportation personnel and members of the Salem Fire Department all assisted at the accident scene. I-93 was reduced to one lane in the area for approximately 45 minutes during the investigation and was reopened once the vehicles were removed from the scene.

The accident investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to call state police at 603-672-3333.
