Counterfeit Money Used at Dollar Tree in Salem

The following arrest information was supplied by the Salem Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Aug. 29

  • 11:37 a.m.: A caller on Salem Street reported wires down across the roadway.
  • 2:01 p.m.: Police received a report of a minor accident in front of Salem Gulf on South Broadway.
  • 2:55 p.m.: Employees at the Dollar Tree on North Broadway reported that a man attempted to pass a counterfeit $50 bill.
  • 3:25 p.m.: Employees at Bank of America on North Broadway reported that a man was yelling and screaming and causing a scene.
  • 4:10 p.m.: Thomas James Dye, 59, of 9 Bailey Road, Salem was charged with simple assault. 
  • 5:38 p.m.: Police received a report of an accident on Main Street.
  • 6:45 p.m.: Corey B. Grondin, 27, of 105 Lancaster Farm Road, Salem was arrested on a warrant and charged with conduct after an accident. He was released on a court summons.
