Arrest Warrant Issued after Accused Drug Dealer Skips Trial

Wagnel Luna was scheduled to be in court on Aug. 5.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Massachusetts man facing drug charges out of Salem after he failed to appear at his trial earlier this month, according to the Union Leader.

Wagnel Luna, 30, of Peabody, MA was arrested by Salem Police in June of 2011 after they allegedly tried to break up a drug deal and he led them on a car chase over the border into Massachusetts. During the course of the pursuit, Luna reportedly attempted to hit multiple officers with his car as they tried to stop him. There were no injuries, and only one Salem cruiser suffered minor front-end damage.

Luna was ultimately charged with multiple counts of drug and motor vehicle violations in both states, along with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (his car) and three active warrants from Massachusetts.

An arrest warrant was issued after Luna failed to show up for his Aug. 5 trial in Rockingham County Superior Court.
