3 Accused of Police Assault at Canobie Lake Park Return to Court

The three were in court for a probable cause hearing.

Three members of a family arrested and charged with assaulting Salem police officers at Canobie Lake Park last month appeared in court for a probable cause hearing, WMUR reports.

E. Allan Perry and his sons, Joshua and Brian, were in court July 1.

Perry, 45, was charged with riot, disorderly conduct, second-degree assault, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest. Joshua Perry, 23, was charged with riot, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest with serious injury. Brian Perry, 18, was charged with riot, simple assault on an officer, and resisting arrest.

The arrests followed what police described as a melee at the entrance to the amusement park in Salem on June 16. One of the Perry men was asked by park security to leave the knives carried on a belt in their vehicle.

Salem police said that one of the members became belligerent and, after warnings, was in the process of being arrested when the altercation ensured. Police said several family members attacked both officers, "including jumping on the backs of the officers, punching and kicking them, and grabbing for their weapons."

Numerous officers responded and arrested five family members on numerous charges. Salem police said the mother of the family faked a seizure when additional officers arrived on scene.

One of the officers suffered a serious shoulder injury in the incident, according to Salem police.
