$210K Stolen, Police Seek Suspects

Salem Police: Burglary suspect threatened he will shoot it out in order to avoid jail.

Salem police have arrested one man and are searching for two others in connection with the reported theft of a safe containing $210,000 in cash.

Police said two of the three men were identified as Shawn Russell, 30, of Methuen, Mass., and Michael Meucci, 31, of Salem, N.H.

Investigators tracked down and apprehended Russell in Methuen and he was found with $40,000 in cash and 42 grams of heroin, according to Salem police.

Police officers from both states continue to search for Meucci, whom they say should be considered armed and dangerous, and others possibly involved in the April 14 heist.

Salem police officers were called to a residence at 24 Main St. that night for a report of a burglary. A witness told police that a dark-colored Kia fled the area after crashing into a parked vehicle, and that three men seen in the area were in the area the night before.

Officers from Salem and Methuen, Mass., tracked down a vehicle matching the description and located on the property in Massachusetts a safe matching the description of the safe stolen and it had been forced open and was emptied, police said.

Ski masks, two-way radios, knives, zip ties air soft pistols and gloves were located inside the reported get-away vehicle, according to Salem police.
