LETTER: Wife Says Police Should Drop Charges Against McDougall

She says her husband didn't interfere, was just concerned about the ambulance bill.

To all this concerns,

I am writing this to explain that on the night I called 911, it was an emergency. I needed to get to the hospital and was not worrying about any ambulance bill. I was in such severe pain. The medications that I was prescribed were not working – I had to put ice packs on my head to try to help, but it only intensified the headache even more!

I am still sick with my headaches because of my sinuses (allergies are no joke) – back again to the doctor's and to the pharmacy for more antibiotics and treatment – after two months of being very sick, which was actually a severe sinus infection that turned into a massive migraine headache.

I do appreciate the medical treatment from the firemen and police, but I have to say my husband was very concerned about the ambulance bill, that we cannot afford – we are having hardship! That is the main reason! My husband did bring me to the hospital that night and got me the medical attention I needed and medication that was nessecary to subside the pain.

He has been there for me over the years for all my sicknesses and brought me to the doctor's and pharmacy for my needed medications over the years. Patrick did not interfere with the medical care the firemen were administrating to me while they were here. He was concerned about the ambulance bill that we cannot afford.

I feel the charges should be dropped immediately, and I hope they will dismiss these charges immediately, as my husband is innocent. I have enough going on with being sick.

Thank you for all your attention to this,

Jane McDougall

You speak of the ambulance bill what about the hospital bill?..Healthcare is so important and I hope you get the charitable care offered by many NH Hospitals and support the affordable care act. Mrs. McDougall please no one wants to interfere with your personal problems, but unfortunately your husband creative a disturbance by refusing the drivers to take you when you requested it. I just hope you are not suffering because of Mr McDougalls actions. As an Adult women here in the USA you have the privilege to make choices. Don't let Mr McDougall make those choices for you.

This is turning into something along the lines of the gong show !

Get well soon. You and your husband seem to be under a lot of stress. Most good people don't want to cause you or your husband grief Peace

I believe that what your husband did was completely wrong... You called 911 he didnt You asked for help he didnt... the emergency workers showed and was there for YOU not him .. by him acting this way over a bill before a bill was submitted actually probably cost the town more money and put others at risk by having to involve the police and fire dept when it wasnt necessary which ends up costing taxpayers more money - as a town leader he shouldve known that
Riley Reid July 14, 2012 at 04:04 AM
@Concerned: Mr McDougall is NOT a town leader, and hopefully after voters reading about his history in the ET today he will no longer be on any town boards.

@Riley Reid even you are a leader for people wanting to feed at a trough filled with hate. @ Concerned, quite frequently Police and Fire make calls. They are paid to be there by all tax payers. Many off these calls turn out to be false or good intentioned. There was a time when your tax bill covered the ambulance and the employees that maned them. Now we have found money to put in the budget without asking the tax payers directly. If we are running an ambulance company lets go out to bid. If we are running a community service for emergencies lets stop double billing the residents. If the department heads are leading us towards privatization tell the people.

As someone who has much experience with calling 911 due to the medical crisis of someone I was living with, you should know that the firestation offers a hardship application and is easily written off. Maybe there was just a lot of stress however I also know that when an ambulance comes, you can refuse medical help-now I do not know if your circumstance allows for that loophole, you may want to investigate that. I do understand where you're coming from Jane- and not everyone knows of these loopholes. Good luck.

Jen, there are a lot of variables that even the EMS personnel are unaware of. In an emergency minutes can count. A sinus head ache which is being cared for by a physician and also monitored by a spouse creates an unusual "emergency." How professionals handle these calls can vary. What the question should be now is; was this situation allowed to escalate? One of the articles addresses her condition as less than critical and at that point there should have been a discussion. Pulling the I have a badge or do you realize I have authority seems provocative at the least. Now that the smoke is cleared get back to acting like neighbors.

Just reading about this fiasco is giving ME a headache.
jen July 14, 2012 at 10:32 PM
Sinuses shouldn't create a migraine headache...it just seems weird....I have severe allergies no migraines. Maybe Patrick and Jane are covering for eachother...maybe she is withdrawing from an opiate addiction...that can cause that kind of migraine...she just seems so...untruthful and...strange in her defense for her husband. I would look into her background not his!!

I don't want to dig, just seems more to the story. Can't stand useing this for his political positions which I don't agree with.

I agree, also I'm not accusing her...I just agree....I feel like there's something we don't know, but oh well, it is what it is.

Its clear to me we have a double standard here. When the Ganley issue was before the town the alleged wrong doing was never made public although it should have been. That issue through political maneuvering just evaporated with know conclusion except to favor Ganley. But in this case when it comes to a citizen, public officials in Salem use their authority to bully and intimidate, as a method, to let people know who has the advantage here. We can make your life miserable, make you spend money you don't have, and there is nothing you can do about it. So much for the sense of community that Salem markets itself to enjoy.

But Russ the people who run the the town are Republicans and right leaning like you are. Your just not on the guest list for their pool parties.
Russ Richardson July 15, 2012 at 08:22 PM
@allwhilesalemsleeps, I'm sure my position on employee COLA earned me that status as right leaning, but if you knew me you would know that is not the case. And on the guest list for the pool parties, some how I'll trudge along, as I have so far, without that honor.
Patriot July 15, 2012 at 09:31 PM
Never realized Ganley was a republican.

When did Breen change parties?
