OBITUARY: Laurel S. Fleet

Funeral services are this morning in Haverhill, Mass.

Laurel S. Fleet, 58, of North Salem, NH, formerly of Windham and Haverhill died Monday, September 10, in Salem, NH from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born in Haverhill, November 23, 1953, daughter of the late Harry M. and Beatrice D. (Schlafman) Fleet.

Educated in the Haverhill school system, Laurel graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1971 and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

After college she was employed as a paralegal, and former secretary of Temple Emanu-El, Haverhill. More recently she was employed as a nurse’s assistant at Greystone Farm Assisted Living, Salem, NH.

Laurel enjoyed attending plays, musicals, reading and traveling.

Her survivors include three sons, Adam M. Friedman of San Francisco, Eric L. Friedman and his wife Yael of Los Angeles, Ari S. Friedman of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Dr. Stephen Fleet and his wife Beth of Peabody; a sister, Dr. Shelley Fleet of Longwood, Fla.; her dear friend Michael Steir of Derry, NH, and several nieces and nephews.

Laurel was the former wife of the late Louis Friedman and sister-in-law of the late Dr. Edward Ackerman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral TODAY, Wednesday morning, September 12, at 10 a.m. in Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill.

Burial will be in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Beatrice D. and Harry M. Fleet Memorial Fund at Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830.

Arrangements are being handled by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes.
