OBITUARY: Armand E. Carignan

He died on Wednesday at the age of 94.

Armand Eugene Carignan, 94 died Wednesday at the Salemhaven Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Manchester, NH, he was a long time Lawrence resident and the son of Phillippe and Alice (Laroche) Carignan.

During World War ll, Mr. Carignan served his country in the United States Marine Corp. and participated in action against the enemy on Okinawa Shima, Japan and the Ryukyu Islands. He was awarded a purple heart prior to being honorably discharged.

For 33 years Armand was employed as Chief Mechanic with the City of Lawrence before his retirement.

Mr. Carignan was a member of the British Club of South Lawrence, and a very talented family automobile mechanic, who loved to play 45’s.

Mr. Carignan was the widower of Anne C. (Sullivan) Cariignan.

Survivors include Children: Armand E. Jr. and his wife Roberta Carignan of Dracut, Ann Marie Lundy of Salem, NH, and Patricia and husband Roland Tremblay also of Salem, NH, two sisters Vinetta Cook and Pauline Buote, one brother Francis Carignan and 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Armand was predeceased by his son, Daniel Carignan and a grandson, Richard J. Kirkham, Jr.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock in St. Monica Church with a burial at a later date in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.

Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
