'Butch' Couture, 71, Business Owner, Succumbs to Cancer

Longtime Salem resident Joseph L. 'Butch' Couture Jr., 71, was laid to rest on Nov. 20 after a "long courageous battle with cancer."

Joseph L “Butch” Couture Jr. age 71 of Salem, NH, died peacefully Monday at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Providence, RI, grew up and was educated in Lawrence, MA. He was a long time Salem, NH resident.

Joe was an entrepreneur and owned and operated J&J’s Subs in Lawrence, MA, and also a vending company. He enjoyed fishing with his best friend and son Joe, and his friend Carter. He was an avid Keno player, loved the casinos, puttering around his yard and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife: Denise E. (Green) Couture of Salem, NH

Son: Joseph Couture III and his wife Patsy of Salem, NH

Daughter: Jennifer and her husband Jason Pacheco of Naples, FL

Siblings: Richard, Jeanette, Shirley, Dianne, and Patsy

Grandchildren: Trevor, Jessica, Chance, and Paige

Several Nieces & Nephews, and his beloved Dog Brady

Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20th from 5-7 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.
