Elsie Ruston: Salem Teacher, Loving Grandmother

Elsie M. (Railton) Rushton, 88, of Salem, NH died Saturday, August 31st at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry, NH.

Elsie grew up in Salem and graduated from Woodbury High School and Plymouth State College, where she was an active alumna for many years. She was a teacher for the Salem School District. Elsie enjoyed crossword puzzles, Scrabble and spending summers at Hampton Beach. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband Thomas Rushton. She is survived by her children, Shirley “Sunny” Cole and her husband Stephan of Jupiter, FL, David Rushton and his wife Deborah of Windham, NH, Douglas Rushton and his wife Carolina of Pemaquid, ME and Marsha Lawlor and her husband Sean of Salem, NH, her twin sister, Nancy Jones of Virginia Beach, VA and her sister, Dorothy Dickie of Wolfeboro, NH, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 3rd from 4-7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.

The Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
