Show Debunks Claims of Common Core Supporters

The issue of Common Core standards, a national educational initiative, continues to be the subject of great controversy throughout the nation, and here in New Hampshire, opposition to it continues to rapidly grow as more people become aware of its ramifications on children from kindergarten through to twelfth grade.

On my television show “Tell It Like It Is” produced here in Bedford, we’ve devoted  several shows to examining Common Core during the past few months, and the sixth show on the subject will begin airing locally on BCTV today. However, it can also be viewed on the show website at www.tellitlikeitisnh.com . On the top toolbar, simply click on Issues, and then click on Most Recent Shows.

Titled “Pinocchio Theories on Common Core”, the guests on this show debunk the claims being made by supporters of Common Core that its educational standards are superior in content, and that Common Core will not decimate local control of education. Among other things challenged are remarks made on another Bedford-based show that opposition to Common Core is being generated only by people whose goal is to eventually eradicate public education.

Guests on this show are:

Sid S. Glassner, who was recently honored by Temple University for his over 50 years of work in education. A prolific educational author, one of his books was deemed “the most provocative teaching aid of the year” by Scholastic Teacher;

Jon DiPietro. President of Domesticating IT, and the recipient of the Emerging Leader Award from the International Society of Automation;

Ann Marie Banfield, Educational Liaison for Cornerstone Policy Research, tutor, and longtime education activist.

Common Core is perhaps the most sweeping education reform ever pushed by the federal government, and will ultimately cost billions of dollars. Watch the show to learn about the already identified problems with it, and then watch the other completed shows to hear additional distressing information.

All of the “Tell It Like It Is” shows on Common Core shows may be aired on any NH public access station if a resident makes a request to his or her local station manager.
