Family, Friends Boost Garcia During Campaign Office Opening

Salem state representative hopes to unseat U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster.

State Rep. Marilinda Garcia, R-Salem, welcomed friends and family to the opening of her campaign office in Concord on June 4, at the intersection of Pleasant and South State streets, in the former office of the Lantos Human Rights Foundation.

A number of well-wishers – more than 100 strong – enjoyed BBQ and treats, wrote checks, and promised to assist the rising star in the New Hampshire Republican Party as she attempted to win the GOP nomination against former state Sen. Gary Lambert, R-Nashua, and face off against U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster, D-NH, in November.

Garcia, who had just wrapped up work in Representatives Hall at the last Legislative session day a couple of hours before, thanked everyone for coming to the event and pledged to focus on basic principles and the better parts of public service, if elected and sent to Washington, D.C.

“One of my goals is to talk about things differently,” she said. “I’m as tired of clichés as everyone else … but I think it’s important that we be communicating with people, not with political talk, but just with our values and what it is that we love about being New Hampshire citizens and American citizens.”

At the end of her seven minute speech, as she started to thank her parents, sister, brother, and fiancée, for all their hard work and support, Garcia found it hard to hold back tears, clearly moved by the strong support she received at the event.
