A Cause for Paws

We hope that many will consider stepping forward to help SARL create a culture of responsible pet ownership and assist abandoned and unwanted animals in Salem and surrounding communities.

One of the most precious gifts we can give is our time to a worthwhile cause. Volunteering your time and talents to the Salem Animal Rescue League is an extremely rewarding experience that will make a real difference in the lives of loving animals. SARL has an ongoing need for volunteers and hope those in the Salem-area will consider getting involved.

How can people get started? First, fill out a Volunteer Application on our website, www.sarl-nh.org and attend Volunteer Orientation. This session lasts approximately an hour and will include an overview of SARL, a tour of the facility, and will serve to answer questions about our many volunteer opportunities. Beginning in February, we will be holding orientations the first Thursday at 6pm and the third Saturday at 10am of every month.  Orientations will be held at the shelter.

For liability reasons, SARL volunteers must be over age 16 to work with the cats, and over 18 to work with the dogs. Parents willing to volunteer with teenagers will be considered if interested in working with the cats. Those who are between the ages of 13-17 and would like to volunteer must have written permission from their parent or guardian and their parent or guardian must accompany them at all times while volunteering.
