Salem is Loosing Out. Again

Marilinda Garcia promised to serve the citizens of Salem everyday as our State Representative in Concord but she’s been absent more times than present at the State House this past month.

What’s more fighting is she wants to take that poor record to Washington. Her campaign manager responded to her missing votes in the article below saying, “like so many of her colleagues she has been unable to do so, as she must balance other personal and professional commitments.” I would like to remind him that her colleagues are not running for U.S. Congress, it’s no excuse. And what other commitments might he be referencing? Last I knew she lived at home and has no full time job.

I can assume he is talking about her campaign commitments in which a large part of her platform is repealing Obamacare. However, when her opportunity to cast a vote against expanding Medicaid in the state came, she didn’t show up! How hypocritical to time and time again advocate for it, and then when the opportunity arises not vote. I would think she would stop at nothing to have been in Concord that day if she truly felt so strongly about it.

We expect representatives to show up when they can, but by missing half of the votes it seems more like she shows up it is politically convenient.
