Closed Kabob Restaurant Making Way for Upscale Sports Lounge

A new business will soon breathe some life into the vacant 82 E. Broadway restaurant that once housed Flaming Kabob.

Flaming Kabob, which has been closed since June, is undergoing a transformation into an upscale sports lounge owned by Josh Jordan, the former owner and operator of Crave Brasserie and Wine Bar, an award-winning Amesbury, Mass., restaurant.

Jordan said he is hoping to open the business in less than two weeks once inspections have been completed.

Crave opened in March 2011, and under Jordan's leadership it was named Best New Restaurant 2012 and Best Business Newburyport 2012 by BestOfSurveys.com.

Jordan was forced to sell Crave last fall, though, after his business partner and head chef was diagnosed with multiple malignant neck, brain and lung tumors and Jordan himself contracted severe food allergies that stopped him from being able to taste and handle the dishes he was preparing, according to the Newburyport News

Stay tuned for more details about the new business.
