Two Teens High on 'Spice' Attempt to Break Into Home

The 19-year-old residents allegedly said they had a gun during the incident.

A pair of Salem teenagers reportedly high on synthetic marijuana tried to break into a Salem home on Townsend Avenue just before 5 a.m., according to police.

Kyle Braciska, 19, was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and loitering or prowling.

Keith Beal, 19, was charged with disorderly conduct and loitering or prowling.

Following their arrest, Beal was found to be extremely impaired, possibly on the drug 'Spice.' Braciska told police that he and Beal were smoking 'Spice' all night and that Beal started to hallucinate.

According to police, dispatch recieved a call at 4:42 a.m. from a resident at 40 Townsend Ave. for a report of the two male subjects dressed in dark clothing banging on her window.

The resident told them she was calling the police. After that, she said they stated that they had a gun.

The resident never observed a gun, and Braciska later denied that they had one.

Before police arrived, the boys left her yard and were walking up Lou Avenue.

Police converged on the area and the two subjects were located near 72 Townsend Ave.

According to Braciska, he was attempting to get Beal to his house when Beal ran up to 40 Townsend Ave and started banging on the window.

Following the arrest, Beal was transported to Parkland Medical Center and held for treatment and evaluation.

He was released on a summons at the hospital and must appear before Salem District Court on Sept. 9, 2013 at 8 a.m. Braciska also must appear at that time.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse website, 'spice' refers to a wide variety of herbal mixtures that produce safe alternatives to marijuana. The product, which is sold under many names, is marketed as a legal alternative to cannabis.

The products are loaded with shredded plant material and chemical additives, creating their mind-altering effects.
