Peregrine Falcon and more

An early Saturday morning paddle around World End Pond this weekend resulted in an awesome sighting, and a pretty nice find for town.

A Peregrine Falcon, the fastest member of the animal kingdom, was seen atop a dead pine tree along the edge of the pond.  This bird was an immature bird, which I believe came from the active nest in Lawrence, MA (info on the Lawrence Peregrines).  There was a noticeable silver band on the right leg.  The left leg usually has the identification numbers/letters I believe, but I was unable to get a good look or photograph of the other side of him.  If anyone can provide any additional info on this it'd be appreciated.

This was my 2nd Peregrine sighting in Salem, the first being at Hawkin's Farm which was presumably a migrating bird passing through.

Also seen at the pond were young Virginia Rails.  These little black puff-balls were seen zipping across the tops of the lily pads, taking brief breaks to find it's parent, and in turn letting me get some sweet shots of them.  A first for me seeing the young.
