Salem School Chosen in BJ's 'Adopt-a-School' Program

The school will receive a check and a one-year membership to help cover costs associated with learning opportunities, new equipment and special events.

A Salem elementary school has been chosen along with 203 other schools as part of a BJ's Wholesale Club program to provide funding and supplies to local districts and children.

North Salem Elementary School will receive a $500 check and a one-year membership to BJ's as a part of the company’s 2013-2014 Adopt-a-School Program.

BJ's has run the program for 18 years, and in that time has provided more than 2,575 elementary schools across 15 states with funds to use for field trips, special events, new equipment or curriculum enhancements, according to the company.

"Supporting educational programs is an important focus area for BJ's Wholesale Club’s charitable giving," said Jessica Newman, assistant vice president of community affairs at BJ's Wholesale Club. "Our hope is that the schools use this business-to-school partnership to help provide students with opportunities they may not otherwise have."
