Salem Rec Ski/Snowboard Registration Starts Today

Annual program takes place Fridays at Pat's Peak.

The Salem Recreation Department is once again offering a Snowboarding and Skiing program this year. The five-week program will be held on Friday’s at Pat’s Peak in Henniker. This program is for children ages 6 to 16 and is geared towards moderate and advanced snowboarders and skiers.

PLEASE NOTE: This program is not designed for 1st time ever skier and boarders unless their parent or guardian accompanies them each week. If a parent registers their 6 or 7 year old child or a beginner skier or snowboarder, the parent must be present and responsible for their child while at Pats Peak.

REGISTRATIONS for this program will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Salem Recreation Department (lower level).

NEW THIS YEAR ... We will have a computer available for part of the registration process when parents register at the Recreation Department. Please note our office is located in the lower level of the Town Hall; office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday or by appointment after 1:30 p.m. You will be able to pay for the Pat’s Peak portion of this program via credit card. We will still require a check for the Town portion of this program.

The five-week Snowboarding and Skiing program start date is Friday, Feb. 15 and continues thru Friday, March 22. The program will not run during Salem’s School vacation week, Friday, March 1st.

All parents/guardians need to register their own child at the Salem Recreation Department. All of the registration forms and permission slips are mandatory. Should a session be cancelled due to inclement weather, Pats Peak will try to reschedule a make-up session.

An additional benefit offered to registered participants in our program: each participant will get a bonus FREE LIFT TICKET valid February 25 to end of 2013 season.

The registered participants ages 8 to 16 will leave from the Woodbury Middle School by bus at 3:45 p.m. sharp and return to the Woodbury School at 11 p.m.

*Parents must provide transportation for their 6 and 7 year olds.

Registration for this program begins at the Recreation Department on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 9:00 a.m. Registrations will only be accepted until the program enrollment limit is filled or Jan. 2. This could make a great Holiday Gift.

Completed packets must be returned to the Salem Recreation Department; schools cannot accept these forms. No registrations will be accepted after Thursday, Jan. 2. Part of this process is completed via the computer. This is new this year.

Please remember to register early …last year we had a waiting list.

Please let the Recreation Department know if you are interested in chaperoning.

It is MANDATORY for all participants to wear helmets at all times. Program fees are listed below (sorry, no refunds). The Pat’s Peak portion can be paid via credit card this year. Expenses include busing and Town’s costs.

You may purchase Café Cards, Helmets, and/or Mittens when you register. Additional fees apply.

*A student choosing the “Lift Only” option must be a strong intermediate snowboarder/skier (a level 5 or above). Participants must be advanced in their abilities with at least 2 years experience and able to link turns and control speed by turning. If a participant is not at this level, he/she must sign up for lessons.
