Feeling Pain at the Gas Pump?

NH's gas tax will increase July 1 - the first rate increase in 23 years.

The state gas tax will increase by 4.2 cents a gallon starting on July 1, the first rate increase in 23 years.

New Hampshire's gas tax is currently 18 cents per gallon. The money generated from the rate hike will go to priority transportation improvements, including the Interstate 93 widening project and state and local bridge upgrades.

Those on the losing side of this policy argument in Concord maintained that Granite Staters cannot afford an increase in the gas tax, even one as small as 4 cents. According to GasBuddy.com, some of the gas prices around New Hampshire include:

  • $3.64 per gallon at the Shell at 190 Amherst St. in Nashua
  • $3.45 per gallon at the EZ Stop on Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack
  • $3.61 per gallon at the Irving at 2470 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth
  • $3.57 per gallon at the Irving at 238 N. Broadway in Salem
With the Memorial Day weekend here, do you feel pain at the pump?
