Mylan Specialty and Pro Football Player Adrian Peterson Are Calling on Americans to be Ready2Go™ and Learn How to be Aware and Prepared for Anaphylaxis

In the off-season, pro football player and 2012 MVP Adrian Peterson spends time training so he is ready when his performance matters most. For this record-setting player, preparation is key – All Day. Adrian takes that same approach when managing his life-threatening (severe) allergies. In an effort to further awareness and preparedness, Adrian has teamed up with Mylan Specialty on Ready2Go™, a new campaign to educate those affected by severe allergies about what to do if a life-threatening allergic reaction, or anaphylaxis, happens.

Ready2Go was inspired by a recent survey which found a lack of understanding about anaphylaxis and what to do if it happens. Key findings include:

  • Fifty percent of parents of children with severe allergies reported that they are concerned they would not know what to do if their child experienced anaphylaxis.
  • Seven in 10 (70%) patients with severe allergies feel they are somewhat or not at all knowledgeable about anaphylaxis in general, and 86% feel others are not knowledgeable.

To kick off the effort, Peterson opened the Ready2Go Draft, a nationwide search for kids who, like him, have severe allergies and are willing to share their tips for being prepared. To enter, parents and caregivers should visit Ready2Go.com to nominate their child or teen to be part of Peterson’s Ready2Go MVP Team by submitting a 30-second video sharing how they are Ready2Go. Three winners will be selected to join Peterson’s Ready2Go MVP Team and participate in a video/photo shoot with him this fall. The video will help educate others about the importance of being prepared in case anaphylaxis occurs.

Anaphylaxis is a significant health issue in the United States – and with an estimated one in 13 U.S. children living with a food allergy, education is critical. Check out Ready2Go.com today to learn more and help spread anaphylaxis awareness and preparedness!
