The Dodging Homelessness High School Tournament will be held on March 15, 2014 to raise awareness on homelessness and crown the state dodgeball champion.

MANCHESTER, NH – The New Hampshire Coalition to End Homelessness (NHCEH) and Families in Transition (FIT) are hosting their annual dodgeball high school tournament, on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Southern New Hampshire University.  The event, “Dodging Homelessness High School Tournament,” brings high schools together to raise awareness on homelessness and compete for the statewide dodgeball championship.  Schools involved in the event have helped raise funds to support the NHCEH and FIT, including educational scholarships for homeless New Hampshire students.

“Bringing high schools and their students together to support this cause is extraordinary,” said Maureen Beauregard, President of FIT.  “The event will help provide a safe home and basic necessities for FIT’s participants.”

“Raising awareness on this issue, especially among our youth, is an essential step to preventing homelessness here in New Hampshire,” said Cathy Kuhn, Director of the NHCEH.  “We’re proud to have these high schools and students working side-by-side with us.”

The tournament is open to the public.  Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for kids ages 12 and under.  Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash or a credit card.  All proceeds go to the NHCEH and FIT, including educational scholarship for homelessness New Hampshire students.

High schools that are anticipated to participate in the event  Derryfield High School, Farmington High School, Londonderry High School, Manchester Central High School, Manchester Memorial High School, Manchester West High School, Merrimack High School, and Timberlane Regional High School.
