Apple iPhone Frenzy to Hit Salem NH Mall Friday

Two new Apple products go on sale Friday, which will likely create big traffic and shopping delays. Learn more about the differences between the new iPhones here.

A new iPhone or Apple product is celebrated as a holiday for millions of tech lovers, so much so that each Apple release typically leads to massive lines and huge crowds at the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem (which opens at 10 a.m. Friday).

Both the new iPhone 5s and the 5c — the more affordable version of the smartphone — will go on sale Friday in the first major Apple release in roughly a year.

There were no issues in Salem in September 2012 for the release of the iPhone 5, although the same can't be said about an iPad release in March 2012. One man was arrested and numerous others were asked to leave the Mall at Rockingham Park when a crowd waiting in line for the new iPad got out of control.

An estimated crowd of 1,000 people awaiting that iPad release became unruly and caused a crushing issue at the mall entrance doors. At that time, local police said they would work with the mall and Apple to make sure nothing like that would happen again in Salem.

So, what's all the commotion about? Here are the differences between the two new Apple products and other things you should know about them before you stake out your spot in line Friday:
